Peter D. Arling

Peter D. Arling was born in Dubuque, Iowa in 1977. He graduated magna cum laude from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. He then received his law degree from Creighton University in 2003, magna cum laude, and completed a concentration in business, taxation and commercial transactions. While at Creighton University, he also served as President of the International Moot Court Board. Mr. Arling joined O’Connor & Thomas, P.C., in 2003 upon admission to the Iowa Bar, is a shareholder in the firm, and currently serves as director and vice president for O’Connor & Thomas, P.C.

Peter was admitted to the Illinois Bar and the Minnesota Bar in 2004, and he was admitted to the Wisconsin Bar in 2005. Mr. Arling has also been admitted to practice before the Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa Federal and Bankruptcy Courts, the Western District of Wisconsin Federal and Bankruptcy Courts, the Central District of Illinois Federal and Bankruptcy Courts, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.

Peter is a member of the American Bar Association, the Iowa State Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Minnesota State Bar Association, the Wisconsin State Bar Association, and the Dubuque County Bar Association. He is a current member of the Business Section Council for the Iowa Bar Association Business Law Section, through which he has made multiple presentations to other attorneys and groups in Iowa. Mr. Arling is also an Executive Board Member for the Northeast Iowa Council Boy Scouts of America, where he serves in various executive board roles and is a past Board Chair for the Dubuque Regional Humane Society.

While Mr. Arling maintains a general practice, he focuses most of his efforts on business transactions, consumer and commercial debt collection, business litigation, and real estate related matters.
