Alex L. Hofer was born in Cherokee, Iowa, and grew up in South Dakota and Nebraska. He graduated magna cum laude from Iowa State University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Psychology. While at Iowa State, Alex interned with the Iowa Senate and studied comparative government policies at the University of Canberra in Bruce, Australian Capital Territory, Australia. Before attending law school, Alex served as an AmeriCorps community service member with Iowa Legal Aid. In 2018, Alex received his Juris Doctorate with distinction from the University of Iowa College of Law. At Iowa, Alex worked as a student attorney at the Clinical Law Program, interned at Iowa Legal Aid, was a member of the volunteer Citizen’s Lawyer Program, and spent a summer studying law in Arcachon, France. Alex received the Jurisprudence Award for highest grade in Public Health Law for his paper, “Whiskey Plates – A Scarlet Letter Approach to the DUI Epidemic.” Alex clerked for O’Connor & Thomas in 2017 before joining as an associate in 2018 upon being admitted to the Iowa Bar. Alex’s general practice includes, but is not limited to: business law, family law, health law, insurance, and related civil litigation.
