Alex L. Hofer

Alex L. Hofer was born in Cherokee, Iowa and raised in South Dakota and Nebraska. He graduated magna cum laude from Iowa State University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Psychology. At Iowa State, Alex worked for the Iowa Senate Research Staff and studied comparative government policies at the University of Canberra in Bruce, Australian Capital Territory, Australia. Before attending law school, Alex served as an AmeriCorps community service member with Iowa Legal Aid. In 2018, Alex received his Juris Doctorate with distinction from the University of Iowa College of Law. At Iowa Law, Alex was a student attorney at the Clinical Law Program, clerked at Iowa Legal Aid, was a member of the volunteer Citizen’s Lawyer Program, and studied law in Arcachon, France. Alex received the Jurisprudence Award in Public Health Law for his paper, “Whiskey Plates – A Scarlet Letter Approach to the DUI Epidemic.” Alex clerked for O’Connor & Thomas in 2017 before joining as an associate in 2018 upon being admitting to the Iowa Bar. Alex’s general civil practice includes, but is not limited to: business litigation and business transactions, civil litigation, family law, health law, and resolving landlord/tenant disputes.
