Thomas M. Bright

I grew up in small-town Indiana and attended college at Loyola Chicago before law school brought my wife and I to eastern Iowa. We were thrilled to settle in Dubuque because we had a taste for what makes this city special. The brick and stone buildings mirror those from my hometown, and the eclectic energy of downtown reminds me of the northside of Chicago.

Throughout our recent moves, we’ve kept close with the friends we made along the way. On weekends, you might find me coaching Loyola’s college mock trial teams, nervously watching a Colts game, or attending Mass at the Cathedral.

I believe strongly in the importance of hanging together when the going gets tough, even from a distance, and I bring that belief to my practice. When I work with clients, we solve problems together, and they can trust that I will faithfully work to accomplish their goals.

This collaborative approach to the practice of law is rooted in what I learned growing up in a family of doctors. My family provided excellent care to patients, but more than that, I can remember from an early age my physician grandfather emphasizing the importance of compassionate care. To me, compassionate care means that you have someone to walk with you, not someone telling you what to do.

You don’t have to walk alone. What are your goals? What problems need solving? When can we get started?

I am licensed in Iowa and Wisconsin, and my practice includes estate planning, small business planning, nonprofits, real estate, guardianships, and conservatorships (adult and minor), and estate administration. Please reach out if I can be of assistance.
